Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is produced by the pituitary gland, a small structure at the base of the brain. Production of this hormone never ceases throughout life, but the amount that is produced is highest at a young age and declines as you age.
HGH has a strong influence on your metabolism, including:
- An increase in the breakdown of stored fats, known as triglyceride.
- Increased use of stored fats to create energy
- Stimulating protein production
Because of its important in metabolism and other bodily functions, HGH is very important when reducing fat and losing weight.
How HGH Affects Weight Loss
Obesity and low levels of HGH are often connected. HGH affects certain enzymes that greatly help in controlling certain processes that deal heavily with metabolism: lipolysis and lipogenesis. Lipolysis is the breakdown of triglycerides, stored fats, into fatty acids. Lipogenesis is the process of accumulating fat in the body.
HGH intervenes directly with fatty acids, preventing them from being collected into fat storing cells that contribute to weight problems. This encourages your body to use the fatty acids as a direct source of energy, which reduces the amount of proteins you use instead. HGH thus directly attacks fat by having your body use more of it for energy, while also preserving more protein, which is also useful for many bodily functions such as metabolism and cell reconstruction.
HGH also makes dieting and exercise easier. It is the hormone that promotes your bones and muscles to grow, and also makes them recover more quickly after exercise routines and strenuous activity. This makes it less difficult to exercise regularly. Additionally, HGH keeps your body from breaking down the cells in your bones and muscles by encouraging your body to use fats as energy instead, meaning that even when eating fewer calories, your body is using less stored muscle and protein and more stored fat.
HGH Alone Won’t Do It
By itself, HGH will not cause you to lose massive amounts of fat and bulk up into a bodybuilder. It has effects that aid metabolism and make exercise easier to do routinely, but if dietary and physical steps are not taken, then the results of HGH will be minimal. It makes diet and exercise more effective, so any weight loss plan can benefit from HGH supplementation, but taking HGH without any other action will not lead to significant results.
It should also be noted that HGH may not immediately lower your actual weight as seen on a scale. While it encourages the breakdown of fat and prevents more from being created, it also helps to create muscle and stronger bones. So while your weight may not change immediately, it is working to make your body healthier by removing fat and creating leaner muscles and healthier bones.
